Founded in 1964, Bergen Protective Systems quickly grew and expanded into a major independent security systems provider. Since its inception, the fundamental principles of the company have never wavered or been compromised. Those principles were to ensure the safety and security of all clients and their possessions by making sure that all installations were and are completed in accordance with applicable codes and requirements. As a measure of our commitment to quality and excellence, Bergen Protective Systems is a UL® Listed and licensed company. Our Founder and President, Joseph F. Cioffi, Jr. was one of the founders of the New Jersey Alarm Association (now the New Jersey Electronic Security Association) and served as the organization's first president.
Today, Bergen Protective Systems, Inc. is headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, having recently expanded to a larger facility. Joseph F. Cioffi, Jr. is still involved on a daily basis, while his sons Joseph F. Cioffi, III and John Cioffi oversee sales and technical operations, respectively. Joseph F. Cioffi, III is a past-president of the New Jersey Electronic Security Association (NJ ESA), and is still actively engaged in licensing issues and legislative activities that can affect the industry, as a member of the NJ ESA Board of Directors.
Throughout our 50+ year history, we have had the ability to both witness and participate in the ever-evolving electronic security and life safety industry. From the time when Burglar Alarm Systems had a little round key for arming and disarming them, to today where such an operation is performed from a touch-screen keypad or a smartphone, we have installed and serviced all types of Burglar Alarm Systems. Fire Alarm Systems that were once driven by high-voltage relays with loud bells are now micro-processor based Mass Notification Systems with advanced detection sensors, live voice speakers and text message alerts.
When you choose Bergen Protective Systems, Inc. as your Electronic Security and Life Safety Systems partner, you can feel confident that you are not working with just another “vendor,” but rather a family that shares your concerns because it is engrained in our DNA.
Service has been, and always will be, our top priority. While the temptation to pick a large national company might be appealing, due to their excessive commercials and low up-front initial fees, ask yourself one question: “when was the last time that I enjoyed dealing with my large, national telephone or cable provider?”
For over a half-century, we have been there for our clients in times of their greatest need or their simplest request, and we will continue to be there for many years to come.
